There are Christmas songs… and then there’s Mariah Carey at Christmas.

With her 2026 Christmas tour bringing her back to the UK, including a date at The O2 in London, it feels like the perfect time to celebrate an artist we absolutely love performing at Independent Musicians Collective.

Why we love performing Mariah

Mariah may be the undisputed Queen of Christmas, but at heart, so much of her music is rooted in R&B, soul and gospel — which is exactly why it works so brilliantly for us.

Huge vocal arrangements, layered harmonies, gospel-style backing vocals and infectious grooves make songs like All I Want for Christmas Is You incredibly fun to perform with a full live band.

And when that opening intro starts?

Everybody knows what’s coming.

Christmas, but make it R&B

For us, Christmas entertainment doesn’t have to mean traditional festive songs all night.

We love combining Christmas favourites with R&B, soul, disco and party classics, creating something that feels festive while still getting people onto the dance floor.

Think Mariah Carey, Stevie Wonder, Destiny’s Child and Earth, Wind & Fire — big vocals, brilliant musicians and plenty of groove.
